Franz Valley Community Hub is a members-only website for the people who live in Franz Valley and the immediately surrounding area. It works because members treat it, and each other, with care. By joining, you agree to these guidelines.
Membership
- Membership is open to full-time and part-time residents of Franz Valley and the immediately surrounding area. The site administrator reviews and approves all membership requests.
- Each member may have their own account, or a couple may share one. An email address can be used for only one account, so couples who share an email address share an account. Use your real name (or both names on a shared account) and keep your profile accurate.
- Keep your password private and your account your own.
Respect & Courtesy
Our members bring different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Everyone who meets the membership requirements should feel welcome, respected and able to participate.
- Treat every member with kindness and respect, even when you disagree. Discuss ideas, not people. Harassment, threats, bullying, personal attacks and hateful or discriminatory remarks have no place here.
- Keep words and images clean and family-friendly, with no profanity or vulgar or sexually explicit content.
Keep It Local
This site is for our community. State, national and foreign politics have the potential to cause problems and alienate community members, so they are out-of-bounds within this community hub.
- Welcome: Sonoma and Napa County matters, including county measures and initiatives, supervisors, city council members, local boards and districts, and local candidates. Disagreeing about these is fine. Keep it civil and focused on how they affect Franz Valley.
- Not permitted: state, federal or foreign politics. That includes candidates, officeholders, parties, elections, legislation, ballot measures and political causes.
- Not permitted: debates about religion, or about national social and cultural controversies.
- If a state or federal decision directly affects Franz Valley (for example, a fire-insurance rule or a road project), share the practical facts: what it means here and what members can do, and leave the debate over its merits aside.
- When in doubt, ask the site administrator before posting. The administrator decides what is off topic.
Protect Our Privacy
- Keep what members share here on this site. Ask first before sharing another member’s name, contact details, posts or photos anywhere else.
- Keep personal details private, including addresses, phone numbers and financial or medical information.
Post with Care
- Own what you post. Share only lawful content that you have the right to share.
- Help keep the site free of spam, chain messages, scams and unsolicited advertising. Buying, selling and business recommendations belong in the Trading Post and Local Services.
- Keep posts relevant to the forum, club or topic you post in.
Moderation
To keep the site welcoming, the site administrator may edit or remove posts, and may suspend or remove accounts that don’t follow these guidelines. If you see something that concerns you, email admin@franzvalley.org.
Emergencies
In an emergency, call 911 first. This site isn’t an emergency service and isn’t monitored around the clock. Emergency information here is shared as a courtesy and can go out of date, so rely on official sources and sign up for official alerts.
